The situation
A self-propelled sprayer works in a narrow window: when the weather and the crop stage are right, the machine has to run, and a day lost cannot be made up later. The Leeb 8.300 PT with its 6.7 l FPT engine and 310 hp has the output for wide booms and full tanks. The weak point on this machine was the AdBlue system. Fault messages interrupted the job, and every AdBlue fault carries the threat of derate – which, on a sprayer in the middle of a field, means the operation stops.
The farm wanted the sprayer to deliver its 310 hp reliably through the season, without after-treatment warnings and without the maintenance effort of a sensitive SCR system.
What we did
The MD1CE101 was read and the file developed for this software version. The MD1 is a newer Bosch generation than the EDC17 and needs its own approach.
- AdBlue/SCR: dosing and level monitoring deactivated in software, related DTCs and the derate strategy handled. The sprayer no longer depends on DEF supply or on SCR sensors that throw faults, and the full output of the engine remains available at all times.
The power maps were left untouched – the request was reliability, not more horsepower. Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU.
The result
No AdBlue fault messages, no derate and the full 310 hp available whenever the booms are out. The operator reports a machine that runs smoothly and more efficiently than before, with fewer stops and longer uninterrupted working days during the spraying window. For the farm this means the crop protection schedule is set by the weather, not by the after-treatment system. Files for the MD1CE101 are developed from the original read of each machine, not from a generic base – the software version decides what the file looks like.
