Tool releases for off-highway – Byte Performance weekly digest

Tool releases for off-highway: week 40 2026

Two Alientech releases matter for truck and farm workshops this week: Scania’s current engine ECU and the newest John Deere controller can now be read over the diagnostic port. Left out on purpose: five Autotuner releases for passenger cars and pickups (BMW, Ford/Lincoln, Opel and Volvo cars).

Motorola EMS10 – Alientech KESS3 3.59, OBD and bench

KESS3 now reads and writes the Motorola EMS10 over the diagnostic port and on the bench, in addition to the boot mode that was already available. The release note names the Scania R and S series from 2019 with the DC13 (12.7 l inline six) and DC16 (16.4 l V8). OBD is the quick route for a truck that has to stay on the road; bench reaches the ECU at its connector without opening the housing. The release note names no cables, so check the KESS3 vehicle list before booking the job. Release note →

Phoenix L33M – Alientech KESS3 3.60, OBD

The newest Phoenix generation can now be read and written over the diagnostic port. The release note lists the John Deere 6M and 6R series and the Claas Arion from model year 2025, all with the 6.8 l PowerTech engine. No ECU removal means the job can be done on the farm, between working days. Only OBD is mentioned – no bench or boot route, no specific cable. Release note →
