Fendt 718: Stage 1 file written via OBD in the dealer workshop

The situation

The Fendt 718 is a mid-range standard tractor that does a bit of everything on the farm: loader work, transport, tillage. It is a machine that gets a lot of hours, and a machine where a little more torque under load is felt every day. This job is typical of our daily work: the dealer reads the tractor in his own workshop, we develop the file, the dealer writes it back. The farm never has to send the tractor away.

The request was a Stage 1 file. Emission-related options were discussed, but not ordered for this tractor.

What we did

The original file was read via OBD by the dealer and sent to us. We developed the Stage 1 individually for this software version.

  • Stage 1: injection quantity, rail pressure and boost adjusted within the limits of the stock hardware – more usable torque under load and a smoother delivery from low rpm.
  • AdBlue/SCR: available on request – dosing and level monitoring can be deactivated in software* for this tractor.
  • DPF: available on request – a solution without the regeneration problems that appear after 500 operating hours, regeneration logic disabled in software*.

Checksum corrected, the file returned to the dealer and written via OBD – the ECU stays in the tractor, no bench work.

The result

More pull under load and a tractor that responds better with a heavy trailer or implement behind it. For the dealer, a Stage 1 via OBD is a job that fits into a normal workshop day: read, send, write. Files for the Fendt 718 are developed from the original read of each tractor – the software version decides what the file looks like.
