Komatsu D65PX crawler dozer – Byte Performance Eco file case study

Komatsu D65PX: Eco file plus DPF and EGR off on the CM2250, done remotely

Machine Komatsu D65PX (low-ground-pressure crawler dozer)
ECU Cummins CM2250
Solution Eco + DPF off* + EGR off*
Read / write Remote, via Cummins diagnostic software

The situation

A dozer pushes material for hours at high load, then idles, reverses and pushes again. That duty cycle is hard on the after-treatment: soot load builds up, regenerations interrupt the work, and a fouled EGR valve costs response exactly when the blade is full.

For a machine in earthworks, fuel per working hour matters as much as power. An Eco calibration is the right tool here – more efficient combustion in the load range the dozer actually uses, not more peak power.

What we did

The CM2250 stayed in the machine. The job was done remotely: the file was developed for the software version on the ECU and written through the Cummins diagnostic software in a remote session.

  • Eco: calibration adjusted for efficient combustion under load – steady torque on the blade at lower fuel use per working hour.
  • DPF: regeneration logic disabled, back-pressure model and sensors neutralised.
  • EGR: valve closed in software – clean intake, no recirculated soot, stable combustion temperatures.

Related DTCs handled and the file written through the diagnostic software.

The result

No forced regenerations, no EGR fouling and an engine that responds the same way at the end of the day as at the start. The remote process kept downtime to a minimum – the dozer stayed on site. For contractors with machines spread over several sites, this is the fastest way to a new file on the CM2250.
