Fendt 1050 Vario: DPF and EGR off for a tractor that runs without interruption

MachineFendt 1050 Vario (high-horsepower standard tractor)
SolutionDPF off* + EGR off*

The situation

The 1050 Vario is bought for one reason: to run at full load for long hours in front of the heaviest tillage. That is exactly the duty cycle in which the exhaust after-treatment becomes the weak point. On this tractor the operator had the typical pattern – regeneration cycles that interrupted the work, fault messages, loss of output as the filter loaded up and the risk of derate in the middle of a field. The result was downtime and unplanned workshop visits on a machine that is supposed to be the most productive on the farm.

The contractor wanted the tractor to deliver its output without interruption, shift after shift.

What we did

The file was developed for this tractor and software version, with the focus on the two systems that caused the downtime.

  • DPF: regeneration logic disabled, back-pressure model and related sensors neutralised in software. No more regeneration cycles, no loss of output through a loaded filter.
  • EGR: valve closed in software – clean intake, no recirculated soot, stable combustion temperatures under sustained full load.
  • DTCs: all fault codes related to the two systems handled, including the derate strategy.

The file was written to the ECU and the tractor checked under load.

The result

No regeneration cycles, no after-treatment fault messages, no derate and full pull under load. For the contractor this means a 1050 Vario that runs the whole day on large fields without a single after-treatment stop and no longer needs the workshop for faults the after-treatment used to generate. The engine delivers what it was bought for: output without interruption.
