The situation
The 1050 Vario is one of the strongest standard tractors on the market, and the MAN D2676 underneath has plenty of reserve. What holds it back in daily use is not the engine – it is the exhaust after-treatment. On a machine that spends its life at high load in front of heavy tillage or a big trailer, AdBlue faults, forced regenerations and back-pressure cost hours and, in the worst case, put the tractor into derate in the middle of a field.
The customer, a contractor, wanted two things: more usable torque under load and an end to the after-treatment downtime.
What we did
We read the EDC17CV42 and developed the file individually for this software version. The Stage 1 map raises injection quantity, rail pressure and boost within the limits MAN designed the hardware for – torque, EGT and rail pressure are monitored and capped, not simply pushed.
- Stage 1: 517 → 590 hp with matching torque curve, smooth delivery from low rpm.
- AdBlue/SCR: dosing and level monitoring deactivated in software, all related DTCs and the derate strategy handled.
- DPF: regeneration logic disabled, back-pressure model and sensors neutralised.
- EGR: valve closed in software – clean intake, stable combustion temperatures.
Checksum corrected, flashed via OBD, followed by a test drive with logging.
The result
+73 hp and noticeably more pull under load, no regenerations, no AdBlue warnings, no derate. For the operator this means fewer stops, less fuel per hectare at the same work rate and a tractor that behaves the same on the last hour of the day as on the first.
