The situation
The Kubota 7132 is a standard tractor in the class that does the heavy work on a mid-size farm: ploughing, cultivating, pulling loaded trailers. Most farmers who run a tractor like this ask the same two questions – can it pull more, and can it do so on less fuel. Stock, the calibration is a compromise for every market Kubota sells into, and both questions have a positive answer.
The farm wanted a noticeable gain under load for tillage and heavy trailers, combined with lower fuel consumption during the long transport and PTO hours that make up the rest of the season.
What we did
The engine ECU was read and the file developed for this software version.
- Stage 1: injection quantity, rail pressure and boost adjusted within the limits of the stock hardware – more torque where the tractor needs it, in heavy tillage and on gradients with a loaded trailer, with a smooth delivery from low rpm.
- Eco: injection timing and the torque curve calibrated so that the engine does the same work at lower rpm and with a more complete combustion. The tractor runs a higher gear under load, which is where the fuel saving comes from.
- Driveability: a stronger, more linear response to the pedal – the tractor handles demanding jobs with reserve instead of at its limit.
Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU.
The result
More power under load, lower fuel consumption and a tractor that is more pleasant to drive. For the farm this means faster work rates in the field and lower fuel cost per hectare on the same jobs. Files for the Kubota are developed from the original read of each tractor, not from a generic base – the software version decides what the file looks like.
