The situation
The Lintrac 100 is a compact tractor built for alpine and grassland farms: mowing on slopes, haymaking, loader work and transport. On farms like these the tractor runs many hours at part load, and the stock calibration – made for a broad market – uses more fuel in that range than the work requires. With fuel one of the largest variable costs and emission requirements tightening, the farm wanted an efficiency-focused file rather than maximum power.
The brief was simple: keep the tractor’s character, use less fuel and have a bit more torque in reserve for the heavy jobs.
What we did
The engine ECU was read and the file developed for this software version.
- Eco: injection timing, injection quantity and boost adjusted within the limits of the stock hardware so that the engine produces its torque at lower rpm and with a more complete combustion. Depending on the work, this lowers fuel consumption by up to 10 % while the tractor still pulls better than stock.
- Power: more usable torque in the working range – the Lintrac holds a higher gear on slopes and under PTO load instead of dropping rpm.
Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU.
The result
Up to 10 % less fuel and more pull in the range the farm actually uses. For the operator this means lower operating costs per hour, fewer gear changes on the slope and a tractor that is ready for the next years of tightening requirements without any change to the hardware. Eco files for the Lintrac are developed from the original read of each tractor – the software version decides what the file looks like.
