The situation

The Geotrac 104ep is a tractor known for its reliability, used for everything from ploughing to transport and the harvest – work where usable torque matters more than peak output on paper. The farm did not want a maximum-power file. The request was an Eco calibration – more pull where the tractor is used every day, combined with lower fuel consumption, because the fuel bill matters as much as the horsepower.

What we did

The file was developed for this machine and software version as an Eco calibration: the aim is efficiency first, with the extra power as the consequence of a better-used engine.

  • Eco: around 15 percent more power and torque. Fuel delivery and boost adjusted within the limits of the stock hardware, with the torque gain placed in the rpm range where the tractor works – ploughing, transport, the forage harvest.
  • Consumption: the calibration is set up so that the engine does the same work with less fuel. On a tractor that runs many hours a year the saving adds up over the season.

The file was written to the ECU and the tractor checked under load.

The result

Around 15 percent more power, noticeably more pull under load and lower fuel consumption at the same work rate. For the farm this means a Geotrac that holds its speed with a full trailer, pulls the plough with less effort and costs less to run per hour. An Eco file is the right choice where the operator wants reserve for daily work rather than maximum output on paper.
