The situation
The S7718 is a mid-range standard tractor that spends its season in front of heavy tillage, the drill and a loaded trailer on the road. In that role every extra bit of torque shows up directly as a wider implement, a higher gear or a faster run to the field. The farm wanted a Stage 1 file: more power and torque for the heavy jobs, with a calibration that uses fuel better rather than simply burning more of it.
What we did
The Bosch EDC17CV41 was read and the file developed for this software version.
- Stage 1: +40 hp with a matching torque curve. Injection quantity, rail pressure and boost adjusted within the limits of the stock hardware, so that the gain is available from low rpm and the engine holds its speed under load instead of dropping a gear.
- Efficiency: the calibration is set up for better fuel utilisation at the same work rate – more output per litre over a long working day.
Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU, followed by a check of the tractor under load.
The result
+40 hp, more torque and a tractor that responds more directly to the pedal. For the farm this means heavier implements pulled at working speed, fewer gear changes on the slope with a full trailer and a lower cost per hectare through better fuel use. Files for the EDC17CV41 are developed from the original read of each tractor – the software version decides what the file looks like.
