The situation
The New Holland T9.560 is an articulated four-wheel-drive tractor with a 12.7 l FPT engine, built for primary tillage and the widest implements a farm runs. It is a machine that is bought for pull, and the operator wanted more of it: the engine has hardware reserve that the factory calibration does not use.
The farm asked for a Stage 1+ file – the step above a standard Stage 1 – and wanted the tractor back in the field before the season started.
What we did
The engine ECU of the T9.560 was read and the Stage 1+ file developed for this software version.
- Stage 1+: injection quantity, rail pressure and boost adjusted within the limits of the FPT hardware for a gain of 90 hp – an 18 % increase over stock – with a matching torque curve.
- Torque delivery: smooth build-up from low rpm so the extra power is usable in the field, not only on paper.
- Monitoring: torque, EGT and rail pressure remain capped, so the gain comes from calibration, not from pushing the engine beyond its limits.
Checksum corrected and the file written back. The tractor went straight back to work.
The result
+90 hp, +18 % – a T9.560 that pulls the same implement at a higher working speed, or a wider implement at the same speed, and finishes the field in less time. For the farm this is work rate per hour within the same hours of the day. This case is a pure performance file: no emission-related changes were part of the request, and the 12.7 l FPT engine runs within the limits of its hardware.
