The situation
The Orion K105DS is a compact tractor for the kind of work where a big standard tractor does not fit: orchards, vineyards, municipal and yard jobs. Those jobs are typically short cycles at varying load, which is exactly the duty profile a DPF does not like. The filter rarely reaches the temperature it needs, regenerations are triggered more often and cut into the working day, and the EGR system adds soot to the intake in the meantime.
The farm wanted the tractor to run as economically as possible and without after-treatment interruptions. The request was an Eco file plus a software solution for DPF and EGR.
What we did
The engine ECU was read and the file developed for this software version.
- Eco: the engine maps were calibrated for efficiency rather than peak output – fuel delivery and torque shaped so that the tractor does the same work at lower consumption, with a smooth delivery at the low rpm where the machine spends most of its time.
- DPF: regeneration logic disabled, back-pressure model and sensors neutralised – no more forced regenerations on short jobs.
- EGR: valve closed in software – clean intake, no recirculated soot, stable combustion temperatures.
Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU.
The result
A compact tractor that runs cleaner in the intake, uses less fuel for the same job and no longer stops for regenerations. The engine still delivers what the implement needs; it simply does it more efficiently and without the after-treatment cycles that interrupted the day before. For the farm this means lower running costs per hour and a machine that is ready whenever it is needed. The file is developed from the original read of this tractor, not from a generic base – the software version decides what the file looks like.
