The situation
The Hyundai HX520 AL combines a Cummins X12 Stage V engine and a Cummins CM2350 ECU – a strong package for heavy site work. Stage V also means the complete after-treatment chain: SCR with AdBlue dosing, a particulate filter with its regenerations and EGR. On a machine that works long shifts at high load, each of these systems is a possible reason for a stop, and the contractor had seen all of them: AdBlue warnings, regenerations at the wrong moment, fault messages and the workshop visits that follow.
The request was to handle the after-treatment in software so that the excavator spends its hours working rather than waiting.
What we did
The CM2350 was read and the file developed for this engine and software version as a complete emission solution.
- AdBlue/SCR: dosing and level monitoring deactivated in software, related DTCs and the derate strategy handled. The machine no longer depends on DEF supply.
- DPF: regeneration logic disabled, back-pressure model and related sensors neutralised. No forced regenerations during the shift.
- EGR: valve closed in software – clean intake, stable combustion temperatures over long days at high load.
Full output of the X12 is retained; the file changes the emission management, not the power the operator relies on.
The result
Less downtime, no after-treatment fault messages and the full performance of the Cummins X12 available whenever the stick is loaded. For the contractor this means more hours on the job, fewer unplanned workshop stops and an excavator that works as reliably at the end of the day as at the start. Files for the CM2350 are developed from the original read of each machine – the software version decides what the file looks like.
