The situation
Road construction runs on a schedule that does not tolerate interruptions. Once the asphalt is on its way, the paving train has to keep moving, and a machine that stops for a fault message holds up the whole site. The Vögele MT3000 2i in this case had exactly that problem: fault messages from the exhaust after-treatment, a DPF that demanded regenerations at the wrong moment and an EGR system that cost efficiency and reliability over time.
The contractor wanted the machine to run its shift from start to finish without after-treatment interruptions.
What we did
The file was developed for this machine and software version with the focus on the two systems that caused the downtime.
- DPF: regeneration logic disabled, the back-pressure model and related sensors neutralised in software. No more forced regenerations in the middle of a pour.
- EGR: valve closed in software – clean intake, no recirculated soot, stable combustion temperatures and a more efficient engine over the day.
The related DTCs were handled so that the machine no longer reports after-treatment faults.
The result
No fault messages, no regeneration stops and a measurable reduction in fuel use through the more efficient combustion. For the contractor the real gain is reliability: the MT3000 2i can be used continuously, the paving train keeps its rhythm and projects stay on schedule. Less energy lost in the after-treatment also means more precise, consistent work on the site.
