The situation
Not every job needs a technician on site. This Atlas Copco runs a Siemens/Continental 2350CM ECU, a platform that can be accessed with Calterm, and the operator wanted two things: the AdBlue/SCR system handled in software so that dosing and the faults that come with it no longer stop the machine, and a consumption adjustment so that the engine runs more economically in its typical duty cycle.
Taking the machine out of service for a workshop visit was not an option, so the job was planned as a remote session from the start.
What we did
The ECU was accessed remotely and the calibration adjusted directly with Calterm – no transport, no idle days.
- AdBlue/SCR: dosing and level monitoring deactivated in software, related DTCs and the derate strategy handled. The machine no longer depends on DEF supply or a working dosing system.
- Consumption adjustment: the fuel calibration was adjusted for the machine’s typical load profile so that it does the same work with less fuel, without taking performance away where it is needed.
All changes were made live on the 2350CM, verified in the same session and the machine returned to work immediately afterwards.
The result
No AdBlue warnings, no derate and a leaner fuel calibration – with zero downtime for the operator, because the whole job was done remotely. For dealers this is the interesting part: on ECUs that support it, a remote Calterm session means a machine can be adjusted on the customer’s site, between shifts, with no transport cost and no idle time. The method is the same as on the bench; only the location changes.
