The situation
The 211 Vario is the small tractor on many farms that ends up doing more than it was bought for: loader work, transport, grassland, the odd heavier implement. In that role the limiting factor is often not the machine but the output the factory calibration allows. The farm wanted more pull for the heavier jobs without a bigger fuel bill – a Stage 1 file that adds power, not consumption.
What we did
The Bosch EDC17CV54 was read and the file developed for this software version.
- Stage 1: +23 hp with a matching torque curve. Injection quantity, rail pressure and boost adjusted within the limits of the stock hardware, with the gain spread across the working rpm range rather than concentrated at the top.
- Consumption: the calibration was set up so that fuel use stays at the stock level at the same work rate. The tractor is more capable, not thirstier.
Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU.
The result
+23 hp at unchanged fuel consumption. For the farm this means heavier loads moved with less effort, a tractor that holds its speed on the slope with a full trailer and a lower cost per hour of work, because the extra output comes from the calibration, not from more fuel. Files for the EDC17CV54 are developed on the basis of the original read of each tractor – the software version decides what the file looks like.
