The situation
A tracked dumper lives where wheeled machines give up: soft ground, mud, slopes, long transport runs on sites with no infrastructure. The Morooka MST1500VDR in this case is powered by a 6.7-litre Cummins QSB controlled by a Siemens/Continental CM2350. The operator had recurring AdBlue fault messages and the usual consequences – warnings, the risk of derate and a machine that has to be looked after instead of simply working.
The request was to handle the DEF after-treatment in software so that the dumper runs reliably regardless of AdBlue supply and dosing.
What we did
The customer read the CM2350 himself with Genius via OBD and uploaded the file through the portal – no transport, no workshop appointment. The file was then developed on the basis of that original read.
- AdBlue/SCR: dosing and level monitoring deactivated in software, related DTCs and the derate strategy handled. The after-treatment calibration was adapted to the engine and the way the machine is actually used.
- Calibration: adjusted so that the QSB keeps its full output and efficiency while the DEF system no longer influences engine behaviour.
The finished file was returned through the portal and written back to the ECU via OBD.
The result
The Cummins QSB 6.7 now runs without AdBlue fault messages, without derate and without the attention the DEF system used to demand. For the operator this means less downtime, a more efficient duty cycle and a tracked dumper that is ready for heavy transport work on any site. The workflow – read via OBD with Genius, upload, file back – is the same one dealers use every day.
