Massey Ferguson 7720S: Eco file plus AdBlue solution on the Bosch EDC17CV41

MachineMassey Ferguson 7720S (standard tractor)
ECUBosch EDC17CV41
SolutionEco + AdBlue/SCR off*

The situation

The 7720S is a standard tractor that spends its season in front of heavy tillage, drilling and transport, and the Bosch EDC17CV41 is one of the most common ECUs in this class of machine. In that work, fuel is the largest running cost after labour. The AdBlue system is the second cost the farm notices: it needs supply, it needs working sensors, and when it faults the tractor goes into derate in the field.

The farm wanted a tractor that pulls better at the same rpm and uses less fuel per hectare, and the AdBlue system handled in software so that it no longer dictates when the tractor runs.

What we did

The EDC17CV41 was read and the file developed for this software version.

  • Eco: injection quantity, rail pressure and boost recalibrated within the limits of the stock hardware, with the torque curve shaped for low and mid rpm where the tractor works. More pull at the drawbar and better traction without raising peak output beyond what the hardware is designed for – the calibration targets fuel per hectare, not a headline figure.
  • AdBlue/SCR: dosing and level monitoring deactivated in software, related DTCs and the derate strategy handled. The tractor no longer depends on DEF supply.

Checksum corrected and the file written to the ECU.

The result

Noticeably stronger pull under load, a measurable drop in fuel consumption and no AdBlue warnings or derate. The operator reported a clear improvement in both working performance and fuel use after the change. For the farm this means lower cost per hectare and a tractor that behaves the same on the last field of the day as on the first. Files for the EDC17CV41 are developed from the original read of each machine, not from a generic base – the software version decides what the file looks like.
